Young Americans do not know that vape contains nicotine
Recently, researchers from Stanford University School of Medicine gave a new study. Young people in the United States are completely unaware that the Vape they use contains nicotine, and they do not know the specific information of the vape brand they use Vape Shop Online.
The study’s statistical objects were residents of California and were published in the “Journal of Adolescent Health” on March 16. The study asked 445 participants between the ages of 17 and 24, including their use of
IJOY Vape Pod System, covering specific questions about products produced by four mainstream companies under the brands Asmodus Vape Tc Mod, Suorin Drop, Phix and Myblu.
In many of our tentative cognitions, Vape is a liquid filled with nicotine, which can be sucked in a vaporizer powered by a rechargeable battery. However, American teenagers have no such tentative cognition at all.
The author of this study, senior professor of pediatrics Bonnie Halpern-Felsher (Bonnie Halpern-Felsher), said she was surprised that these young people did not know that they had taken nicotine.
These research data began to be collected in early 2019 and have been more than a year so far. They are part of the “Tobacco Perception Research”, a longitudinal study of California youth’s use Timesvape Dreamer Mod, perception and sensitivity to marketing of tobacco and nicotine. Research participants were initially recruited to participate in the research in 2013 and 2014, and the collection of research data has now entered the final stage.
The study found that 26.3% of the participants had used Juul; 24% had smoked traditional cigarettes; 23% had used Vape with a cartridge changer; a smaller proportion had used other small cigarettes.
Fifty-eight percent of users said that they chose to change the cartridge type Vape because they are easy to hide. The second reason is that the smell they produce is not as obvious as traditional cigarettes.
Harpern Felscher said: “They told our research team that they chose to use Vape because it can be hidden and the smell of smoke is not obvious. This situation is worrying.”
Nicotine content unknown
Harpern Felscher also talked about perhaps the most concerning finding is that young people do not know how much nicotine is in the products they use. When the investigation was completed, Juul Packaging only said “5%”, but this 5% did not specifically refer to nicotine. Since then, the Juul label has been changed to “5% Nicotine”. However, young people cannot calculate the meaning of the actual content of nicotine YOOZ, nor can it accurately compare it with the content of combustible cigarettes.
In addition, more than half of the participants were not sure how long it usually takes to smoke a pod. The research team expressed concern about this finding, believing that it may indicate that young people prefer to share and use these products with friends regardless of dosage, nicotine amount or addiction potential.
Harpern Felsch pointed out that the Vape regulations have not kept up with the industry’s innovation capabilities. In the year since the start of collecting data from this research, many teenagers have turned to cigarette products, such as Puff Bars. “I really hope these findings will be used to further standardize Eleaf Vape.”
